One Generation is
a group of four men whose goal is to "joyfully sing of God’s
righteousness" (Psalm 145: 4-7). They use their unique a
cappella sound to present Christ through a wide variety of musical
styles. Originally formed in their years at Huntington College, the
group has been performing together throughout the United States and
Canada since 1996. They have written numerous original songs and
recorded three albums.
The ministry and music of One Generation began in 1995 at Huntington College. Jason Holliday had come from Toledo, OH to study youth ministry and music at HC. It was there that he met Scott Miller, an accounting major who grew up in Ft Wayne. Both guys had a great love for God and for a cappella style music. They formed OG in 1995 with two other friends, Ross Wheeler and Brent Liechty, and began singing in their spare time. When other commitments caused Ross to leave the group in 1996, Scott’s brother Danny fit perfectly into the open baritone spot. Jeff Roloff, a native of Grand Rapids, MI, was also attending HC and jumped on board as the groups sound engineer and business manager. It was then that the four guys decided to make a more serious commitment to singing. Huntington College was eager to support this talented quartet and helped the group to record their first album, "One Generation". HC also funded a three-week winter tour covering 10,600 miles and 20 states and a summer tour of over 65 concerts in two busy months. The group traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada during these tours. They ministered to congregations of all sizes and denominations including an appearance at the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles, CA. When Scott, Jason and Brent graduated from HC, the guys all stayed nearby and remained excited about the ministry of OG. They had developed a remarkable, tightly blended sound, and more importantly, an eagerness to see God working in the lives of the people they met at concerts and on the road. They were committed to continue their ministry independently. That year, God enabled One Generation to purchase their own sound equipment, record a second album entitled "Because of The Cross" at Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana, and plan a third tour for the summer of 1998. Following that tour, One Generation went through a time of great transition. That fall, Brent accepted a job as a youth pastor and moved to Pennsylvania while Scott, Jason and Danny all "tied the knot". The group still felt God calling them to continue the ministry of OG, so in the fall of 1999 Mick Dooley was invited to fill the vacant bass position. Mick had attended high school with Scott and Danny and fit in easily. God has continued to bless the group with many opportunities. They have formed a close friendship with The Acappella Company and the very voices that inspired them growing up. OG was recently at Acappella’s studios to record their third album, "You Said Love" which they are very excited about. The group also had the opportunity in the winter of 2000 to be a part of a Christmas-theme theatrical production in South Carolina, starring Steve Gatlin of the Gatlin Brothers. Scott, Jason, Danny and Mick all currently reside in Ft Wayne, Indiana, and remain committed to sharing the message of God’s love with everyone they can. They continue to write music and sing at locations through out the United States and to seek God’s direction for their future.
